Lost's loss is the Heroes gang's gain. Veronica Mars star Kristen Bell has been cast in what is being pegged as a "key multi-episode arc" for the second season of Heroes. Per Variety, Bell will first appear in October as Elle, "a sexy, mysterious young lady who (Spoiler alert) has ties to the supposed death of Peter, H.R.G.'s past and Claire's future. Landing the in-demand actress "was not easy to pull off," Heroes creator Tim Kring tells the trade. "But since we're an ensemble show, with many arcs playing out through the year, we found a way to jump into a small window in (Bell's) schedule."
Unreliable sources say Bell's Heroes alter ego has the power to utterly destroy a person with a witty retort.

Your best chance for seeing Neptune again may involve a telescope, as Veronica Mars herself is bearish on the prospect of a big-screen follow-up to the cult TV series. "There is no future, unfortunately," Bell tells MTV.com, when asked about the rumored Mars movie. "Everybody's really, really sad to see it go.... [But] she has been laid to rest [and] may she rest in peace."
Although Bell says she has yet to be involved in a single discussion about possibly revisiting her supersleuther via the silver screen, she won't rule out the notion of one day getting her PI on again. "Depends on how well I age," she quips, making us miss her delivery and wit all the more. Sigh

In the wealthy, seaside community of Neptune, California, Hearst College stands as a beacon of higher education, but within this idyllic and sun-drenched campus, higher education is not always what it appears. In between the beer-soaked dorm parties and all-night cram sessions, the student body is facing a terrifying threat. Luckily for them, incoming freshman and part-time private investigator Veronica Mars is used to taking on a few extra-curricular activities.
Hoping to leave the ghosts of Neptune High behind her, Veronica, along with boyfriend Logan Echolls and best friends Wallace Fennel and Mac, are now freshmen at Hearst College. But with each determined to soak up the college experience in their own way, it quickly becomes obvious that some ghosts are here to stay. Even their high school graduation was marred when Veronica's unlikely ally Eli "Weevil" Navarro was arrested and dragged out of the ceremony in handcuffs.
Add to that the increasingly dangerous private investigator business run by Veronica's father Keith, and her spreading reputation around campus as a girl who can fix the unfixable, it doesn't take long to realize the Hearst College has never faced a student like Veronica Mars.
Building on its trademark twists and turns, with a new campus, new faces and new surprises, the third season of "Veronica Mars" promises to keep both old and new fans guessing alike.
Joel Silver, creator Rob Thomas, Jennifer Gwartz & Danielle Stokdyk and Diane Ruggiero are executive producers. "Veronica Mars" is from Silver Pictures Television, in association with and distributed by Warner Bros. Television Productions Inc. Production services are provided by Stu Segall Productions, Inc.
